This radio spot was produced for Thompson's bid for governor in the special election of 1948. Thompson had been declared governor by the state supreme court after the three governors controversy in 1947, but a special election was scheduled for September of 1948 to elect a governor to serve the remainder of the deceased governor-elect Eugene Talmadge's term (1947-1951). This radio spot features an endorsement by Murray Pendleton, a World War II veteran from Cairo, Ga., who speaks of his support for Thompson and condemns the actions of Herman Talmadge during the three governors controversy the previous year.
